All parents who are going through a divorce in Lake County, must complete a mandatory co-parenting class before a divorce may be finalized. The DRCB offers the TransParenting® co-parenting class for divorcing parents. TransParenting® is a co-parenting class that focuses on how effective parenting during a divorce can lessen the negative impact of divorce on children. Before attending the live TransParenting® class, each parent completes the work at www.UpToParents.org.
The DRCB offers the class on a monthly basis at the Lake County Government Center. The class session runs from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM, and the fee for the class is $50.00 per person. For more information or to register for the class please call the DRCB at 219-755-3683.
The court requires all parents in cases of divorce, visitation, change of custody, and/or other domestic relations actions to complete the TransParenting program with Family Focus. The TransParenting program is a four (4) hour seminar in which both parents must attend and successfully complete in order for their divorce to be finalized.
