DISSOLUTION OF MARRIAGE
We understand that going through a divorce is one of the most difficult issues that you can go through. Decisions you make during this process can have a lasting impact on your family, your assets, and your finances. At Smith Legal Group, we can handle everything from simple uncontested dissolutions to contentious divorce litigation matters. We will work tirelessly to protect your rights and ensure that all agreements, property divisions, and custody arrangements are fair to you and your children. To obtain a dissolution of marriage divorce, one spouse must file a divorce petition, also called a petition for dissolution of marriage.
Adopting a child is a joyous yet sensitive matter that requires a caring and professional adoption attorney. Few decisions in life may ever be as essential and heart-felt as the desire to give the best life possible to a child. Additionally, adult adoption is a popular option for biological parents or for children who find their birth family and wish to be formally acknowledged or fathers who find children they didn't know they had.
CHILD CUSTODY AND CHILD SUPPORT
No relationship is more important than that between parent and child. At Smith Legal Group, we handle each case with compassion, experience, and understanding. We will focus on positive solutions for everyone involved.
GUARDIAN AD LITEM
A Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) is someone the Judge assigns to help a person who cannot come to court or protect their rights and interests for a single case. A GAL can be appointed in cases involving children or incapacitated persons.
At Smith Legal Group, we understand that fathers have rights and in order to ensure they are able to play a positive role in their child’s life, paternity must be established first. We have extensive experience working with our clients to determine the paternity of their children. You may need a paternity test if want to secure child support and have access to medical records, government benefits, and health insurance for your child but have not established parentage.
Smith Legal Group offers affordable rates, accessibility and peace of mind in our years of experience to ensure that you receive the best representation possible for your guardianship case for adults or minors.
FAMILY LAW MEDIATION
A mediator is a neutral person who is trained to help people talk so that the parties can better understand their problems and reach an agreement. A mediator does not take the side of either party, and does not pass judgment on the parties or their problems.
At Smith Legal Group, we offer Flat Rate Estate Planning services. These documents include Power of Attorney, Appointment of Health Care Representative, Living Will Declaration, Last Will and Testament and Trusts.
After a loved one passes, there are legal issues involving protection and distribution of assets that need to be addressed. At Smith Legal Group, we help clients navigate the legal issues associated with losing a loved one.
A long term stay at a nursing home is costly. At Smith Legal Group, we help clients with the Medicaid planning and strategies to protect their family’s assets and future.
